Louise Denny
 

Louise Denny was described in the 1988 Royal Tournament programme as “a leading composer of military marches”.  She was born in 1947 into a military family.  At the age eight or nine, greatly encouraged by her musical grandmother, Louise began to write music and at the age of thirteen had her music first performed in public.  She attended ballet school where she also learnt the piano.  After leaving school Louise danced, acted and sang professionally for some years before starting a family.  Her involvement in military music came about by accident when she wrote Winged Dagger as a tribute to the SAS and found out late in the day that the Regiment didn’t have its own band to play the march she had written and so she had to approach the Directors of Music of other bands to get the music played.  Over the last twenty years or so she has played the piano in many European countries and may now be seen and heard playing at a varied list of hotels, stores and restaurants in southeast England.  Louise now lives in St Leonards on Sea in East Sussex.
