Eric Hudes

This composer webpage is in the process of being created.  In time we will have further details about the availability of scores and performing material for the majority of works listed here.  In the meantime, should you have any particular enquiry about any of the music listed here, then please contact either the publishers whose names are given or Bardic Edition for all other general enquiries.

Eric Hudes was born in London in 1920.  He subsequently lived in Manchester for many years and moved to Essex in 1967 where he has lived since.  In earlier years he wrote much theatre music for Joan Littlewood of Theatre Workshop, ballet music for the Laban Art of Movement Studio, working with choreographers Sylvia Bodmer, Lisa Ullnann and with Rudolph Laban himself; and music for BBC Radio Feature programmes by D. G. Bridson.  Since 1960 he has written mainly for the concert platform and his many works have been widely performed.  He is also active in promoting performances of the music of living British composers and founded the first composers’ co-operative publishing company in this country.
